The Climate Transition: What It Means for Your Business
On 5 October, Lindahl and the Oxford Climate Policy Monitor hosted an evening seminar in Malmö exploring what the climate transition means for businesses – from commercial opportunities to risks and regulatory requirements.
The evening brought together perspectives from research, law and business to discuss a regulatory landscape that continues to evolve despite political and geopolitical uncertainty.
Dr Helena Wright, Executive Director of the Oxford Climate Policy Monitor at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, opened the seminar with insights from the Monitor’s latest findings. One of the key messages was that climate policies continue to strengthen globally despite political headwinds, with significant policy development taking place beyond Europe and North America. At the same time, a considerable gap remains between existing policies and what is needed to meet global climate goals – making implementation an increasingly important part of the transition.
The presentation was followed by a panel discussion with Dr Helena Wright, Daria Davitti, Associate Professor in Public International Law at the Faculty of Law of Lund University, and Johanna Lundgren, Counsel at Lindahl. The discussion explored the commercial opportunities arising from the transition, climate litigation risk, the growing complexity of climate-related regulation and how businesses can prepare for the regulatory and commercial landscape ahead.
Lindahl’s contribution to the Oxford Climate Policy Monitor
Lindahl has contributed to the Oxford Climate Policy Monitor for two consecutive years, with Johanna Lundgren, Counsel, and Izabell Zaza, Associate, leading the firm’s contribution for Sweden. The Monitor is a research-based collaboration bringing together the University of Oxford, policy actors and a global network of more than 60 law firms to map and analyse the development and implementation of climate policy across jurisdictions.
The evening offered an opportunity to connect the Monitor’s global findings with the questions businesses are facing in practice – and to bring together perspectives from law, research and business on how to navigate the climate transition.
