Lindahl contributes to Oxford's Climate Policy Monitor – for the second year running
Lindahl is proud to have contributed for the second year running to the University of Oxford's ground-breaking collaboration Climate Policy Monitor, which maps and analyses climate legislation and policy instruments in over 30 jurisdictions worldwide.
The core of the Climate Policy Monitor and the report produced based on this year's data is to highlight trends, progress and challenges in global climate law. The 2025 edition shows that progress towards more robust climate policy frameworks continues, despite political turbulence in several countries.
– Tools such as the Climate Policy Monitor can become incredibly important in development, by creating transparency and overview that can help to close the gap between ambitious goals and actual results, says Johanna Lundgren, Counsel and environmental law solicitor at Lindahl, and one of those responsible for the firm's contribution to the work on the Climate Policy Monitor.
The global tool, which was launched in connection with the climate meeting COP29 in November last year, is a research-based collaboration between the University of Oxford, Net Zero Tracker, policy actors and a large number of leading law firms from different parts of the world.
Lindahl has once again represented Sweden in the pro bono collaboration and the following lawyers from the firm have participated in this year's work to map and analyse Sweden's climate policy tools:
– It feels both inspiring and important that we as lawyers contribute our expertise to these types of research projects and global initiatives aimed at realising the goals of the Paris Agreement. Through mapping tools based on available data, it becomes possible to understand how different jurisdictions, including Sweden, measure up. That type of knowledge is crucial for filtering through information noise, and as a law firm we have a responsibility to contribute to sustainable development, says Izabell Zaza, associate at Lindahl with a particular profile in sustainability, environmental law and human rights.
