  • Lindahl recruits top data protection expert

Caroline Olstedt Carlström, one of Sweden’s definitive and leading authorities on data protection, begins as a partner at Advokatfirman Lindahl on May 19, 2017. The recruitment is representative of Lindahl's ambition to be the Nordic go-to firm for all types of privacy and data protection issues.

Strategic and legal management as well as safeguarding of data and privacy are increasingly important for corporate competitiveness. The value of data and personal data is constantly increasing. At the same time, legislation in the area is becoming stronger, as evidenced by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which will enter into force on 25 May, 2018.

Lindahl is already recognised as a leading advisor in the field of data protection. With the addition of Caroline Olstedt Carlström, the law firm further strengthens its market-leading reputation.

"We are incredibly pleased and proud to be working with Caroline”, says Malcolm Wiberg, Managing Partner of Lindahl’s Stockholm office, where Caroline will be based. “For many years, she has been the leading Swedish authority in the field. With Caroline on the team, Lindahl's clients can continue to feel confident that they have access to the industry's best expertise.

Caroline joins Lindahl following her position as Vice President – Privacy at Klarna, the payment service company. She is the chairman of the Data Protection Forum and is also active in the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She is widely recognised as an expert in data protection investigation.

In her new role, Caroline will continue to act as Data Protection Officer at Klarna. The existing co-operation between Klarna and Lindahl will continue to develop with the aim of strengthening Klarna's work on privacy and data protection issues and facilitating the implementation of the new data protection regulation.

"I have had some great years at Klarna, but I am now ready for the next step”, says Caroline Olstedt Carlström. “Data protection issues need to be an even stronger focus on the agenda of many Swedish companies, as well as in Swedish society as a whole. There are also great opportunities to provide strategically important values, if you handle the area correctly. Lindahl is a great platform for carrying out this important work."
