Mikael is an Expert Advisor in AI, Tech, and GDPR
Mikael Olsson is a legal expert in AI issues, data protection, GDPR, and the tech sector in general. These are topics that have become increasingly relevant due to the rapid technological development and the global security situation.
Mikael is in his eighth year at Lindahl. As a student, he aimed to become a defence lawyer but changed his mind as soon as he stepped into Lindahl's Uppsala office.
"Being a defence lawyer is not as social a job as working here at a large firm. I enjoy it so much, and that's why I've stayed."
Mikael works with legal issues related to AI, tech, GDPR, and security. Technology is evolving rapidly, and regulations struggle to keep pace.
"Digital areas were long under-regulated. They lagged behind, with legislation mainly covering phones and telephone networks. Now the legislation has somewhat caught up, but there is instead the challenge that companies must adhere to many regulations."
Advice on AI and Security
Today, clients seek advice on the new AI regulations, copyright, and data protection. How should they think when developing AI products? How can AI systems be used internally and securely? What rules and limitations should they set?
Mikael's work involves providing advice and analysing risks to support during a time when development is fast and the security situation is changing. A current issue is information sharing and security. Previously, there was an agreement between the EU and the USA on how information should be shared, but even that has become more uncertain with Trump's arrival.
"The European market purchases many American IT services. But now there is concern that we will not be able to share data with each other. Large companies must have a strategy for such situations."
Constantly Developing
Mikael enjoys working at Lindahl and with his colleagues. The role involves varied tasks, and now he also has the chance to guide new employees.
"At Lindahl, I am constantly developing. I like wearing so many hats, as an advisor, teacher, salesperson, and manager. I really appreciate the freedom and challenges we have here."
