The team advised MySQL on its USD1 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems, and represented Borse Dubai in its high-profile acquisition of OMX. Carl-Olof Bouveng concentrates on a broad spectrum of multi-jurisdictional transactions, investments and commercial projects. Malcolm Wiberg is a recommended name for private equity instructions. Håkan Borgenhäll is “a leader in his field,” say observers, who applaud his skill and experience in trade mark litigation. He acted for Swedish Match North Europe in a recent case about 3D trade marks. Ulf Dahlgren is described as “an excellent patent litigator.” Casco Adhesive instructed him as the lead lawyer in a patent infringement case. Henrik Wistam is highlighted for his trade mark work, having recently represented Ester C in trade mark litigation. The RydinCarlsten merger has considerably boosted the IP and patent litigation capacity of the life sciences group. The firm is also proficient in transactional work and in advising start-up companies. A “likeable and experienced lawyer,” Håkan Borgenhäll is highly praised for his patent litigation work. Ulf Dahlgren specialises in IP law, and has a strong track record in litigation relating to pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. He covers patents, trade marks, copyright and registered designs. Within the patent area, Jonas Westerberg's background is mainly in the pharmaceutical field, with a special focus on supplementary protection certificates. He also has broad experience with a variety of other IP rights. “One of the top names for transactions,” Gunnar Mattsson specialises in life sciences-related law, with a focus on M&A, financing and public takeover bids. He has a wide client base, including Q-MED, Radi Medical and Affibody. One of his recent highlights was advising LinkMed on a SEK91.3 million rights issue and SEK84.9 million issue of convertibles.
Real Estate
This firm moves up in the rankings, following some key recruitments and high-profile transactions. Clients praise the service, saying the lawyers "are intent on getting deals closed.” Jörgen Sandquist heads the Stockholm team and offers extensive experience of real estate M&A, general real estate and construction law. Sources are impressed with his “commercial and highly professional approach." Formerly at RBS Nordisk Renting, Johan Lindberg concentrates on real estate business and environmental law. He is proficient in handling transactions, finance, and traditional real estate matters, including lease law and construction law.
Restructuring/Insolvency
A leading player in local bankruptcy work, this team also has the expertise to assist with major restructurings and cross-border insolvency issues, which clients confirm has long been a cornerstone of its practice. Lars-Henrik Andersson heads the firm’s banking and finance practice, and is highly regarded for his corporate restructuring expertise. Rickard Ström is based in Gothenburg and is often engaged as an administrator. Jesper Johansson is also recommended by clients.
Shipping
This domestic firm receives resounding praise, climbing to the top tier in the rankings. Sources highlight the attorneys' refreshing working style: “They belong to the modern generation of lawyers.
